Winter Feast: Food and Quilts!

It all started with an emailed invitation from former co-worker, Barb: Come over for a mid-winter lunch!

It was a feast...

... of food... conversation...

... and quilts!

Barb has quilted for a long time. This quilt was created around a (cricket) tea-towel that was too nice to use.

This one has the the state colors of Pennsylvania: red, white and blue... Kay (who was born in Pennsylvania) pointed out.

I noticed a cheerful mug-rug...

But my absolute favorite was this one, made of scraps pooled by a group of quilting friends. Each person brought 30 scraps... In the end there were 900 fabrics to choose from!

It was fun hearing what these retired teachers were up to now. One of the oldest in our group mentioned that she was enjoying dog-walking.

There is a group in our neighborhood who walks their dogs, she said, so I had a "dog party" for owners and dogs in my basement last week... There were treats for the owners and the dogs! All the dogs were running around having a great time.

Another great idea to ease the winter blues!
