Terry and I have never gone camping on vacation. By the time we met, he had already decided that clean bathrooms and cable TV were vacation essentials. But not wanting to deprive any of our children of the camping experience, we sent them all off to camp at one time or another.
Our younger son was either being dropped of or picked up at Beaver Scout camp in this picture.
The two boys are 7 and 9 years old. We have no family stories of mishaps or traumatic experiences for this camping experience - so I’m sure he had a good time...
But we do sometimes speak of the time - at a YMCA day camp out in the woods - when a squirrel chewed a hole in my older son’s knapsack ... to gain access to his peanut butter sandwich!
I’m not sure what he ended up eating for lunch that day! That detail has been long forgotten!
