A week ago Terry suggested we go somewhere for a drive. We both, however, wanted to avoid crowds.
I've always wanted to see the cheese factory in St. Sixte, Quebec, Terry said. It's mid-week. I'm pretty sure there won't be any crowds there...
Since meeting the owner of the cheese factory at a local farmers market, Terry has talked about going. He always made a point of buying cheese from her.
Off we headed for our little adventure!
St. Sixte, in rural Quebec, is about 45 minutes away by car from Ottawa. We had never been there before.
The scenery was lovely!
Here is a picture I took of some impressive rock cliffs. As I look at this photo, I can't remember what was on a road... A pothole, perhaps...
This region of Quebec has been the epicenter of some recent earthquakes felt in Ottawa.
It also has some interesting rock formations.
We were intrigued by this large hole in a farmer's field... A sand pit? A sink hole? We never did find out what it was... But the farmer was cutting hay near the edge.
We drove through the village (population 450), admiring their park and baseball diamond (something Terry is always interested in seeing...) He grew up in a small community in eastern Quebec. Parks and playing fields have always been of interest to him!
St. Sixte cheese factory - and its small store - are located on the edge of town.
The girl who served us did not seem to speak English, so we both had to use our French.
French practice - and delicious cheese!
Definitely worth the drive!
