Hometown of Hockey Hero

On our way to and from the St. Sixte cheese factory (mentioned in yesterday's blog) - Terry and I drove through the town of Thurso, Quebec.

Larger than St. Sixte, Thurso is famous (to people our age) as the hometown of legendary hockey hero, Guy Lafleur.

When we lived in Montreal, Terry and I saw him play for the Montreal Canadiens.

In those days -before hockey helmets became mandatory - watching him skate across the ice, hair flying, was always a thrill. He was such a dynamic hockey player!

Terry was happy to pose next to his statue outside the Thurso town hall.

Exploring the town, we came across a lovely residential street with this hillside garden at the end.

This would have been a lovely town to grow up in.

It's always fun to discover new places...

A fun day trip - with a touch of hockey nostalgia for us both.
