Birthday Celebrations

Some of us want to forget our birthdays - we don't want to think about getting older!

I tend to be like that - but then I remind myself to be thankful for everything the year has brought.

Further along the age spectrum, my mother (at 95) loves celebrating her birthday both on the actual day...

And at the monthly nursing home party for all residents who have birthdays that month.

One of her favorite entertainers comes to sing - "Jack" - a former teacher who sings for seniors in his retirement. He remembers her from her days at Riverpark Place, the assisted living apartment complex she used to live in, where he still entertains residents weekly.

Then - as now - she always sits in the front row to listen and to sing along!
