One of my relatives from out west asked if we’d recovered from the derecho storm that wrecked havoc in our neighborhood almost 3 weeks ago.
We have, to a large degree.
This house, on the next block, had an uprooted pine tree fall on a car in the driveway as well as the roof of the house. The porch and the corner of the roof were broken.
Both now look repaired.
A tree further down has two gaping holes in the trunk where the branches were. I see it’s marked with a red ❌ so it’s slated to come down.
Another front yard, that I don’t remember being damaged in the initial storm, has lost a large limb.
I wonder how long after a tree is damaged limbs could continue to fall.
It’s definitely disconcerting to think that, even now, several weeks after the storm, weakened tree limbs could continue to break off and cause damage.
