Days are lengthening - and we are more aware of it.
As of yesterday, we - in Ottawa - have gained an hour's daylight since the shortest day of the year.
But that gain isn't evenly distributed. In the morning we have 15 minutes more daylight than we had last December 21, when the sun rose at 7:39 AM.
In the late afternoon (I hate to call it evening!) the sun set at 5:08 PM yesterday, compared to 4:23 PM on December 21.
That gives us 45 minutes more end-of-day daylight than we had five weeks ago.
To me, that's worth celebrating!
