New “Batty” Neighbor!

My daughter’s neighborhood in Guelph is similar to our Ottawa neighborhood in many ways. Even though she lives in the city, there is wild life around…

Together with the tame.

But there are some animals you don’t expect to see… (At least I don’t!)

I might not have even noticed… But our daughter’s cats alerted her to the fact there was something unusual around…

Then she discovered it - tucked under a ledge near her front door!

A solitary black bat!

What to do now?!!

She doesn’t want to let her cats go out on the balcony now… Bats can carry rabies…

Dogs live behind the doors next to the bat. Have they not noticed?!

Will a wandering outdoor cat - or raccoon - view it as food?! Do bats have natural predators?!

What to do now?!
