War has been on my mind recently - the war in the Ukraine, where my mother was born. And now this war in the Middle East, where I spent so many years.
Benjamin Franklin had it right when he wrote, in 1783, that "There never was a good war or a bad peace."
His reasons hold true today, so I have included them in three screen grabs - from his letter, as found online.
As Franklin said: War causes so much human heartache and misery... If you think of how much good could be done with the money wasted in war, it truly is a mystery why wars occur at all.
