A friend of mine uses a local website called "Trash Nothing" whenever she wants to get rid of something she no longer needs. Items posted on the website are given away for free. But the person who wants them has to come and pick them up.
My friend's latest "give away" was a rusty metal garden bench that needed to be re-sanded and given a fresh coat of paint.
I didn't have the energy to do it, so I posted it on Trash Nothing, she said. The woman who came to pick it up was so appreciative that she gave me a small wooden carving as a gift. (There were smiles all around!)
I haven't used the website... yet.
But as I come across things like this crocheted ornamental pot holder...
... (with s tear) from my mother's kitchen - and wonder what to do with it... (toss? repair?)
I suddenly realize that it would work well as a "mug mat" for my morning cup of coffee!
Re-purposed... with a touch of nostalgia!
