Walking Down Our Street…

Signs of destruction from last Saturday’s half-hour storm surround us in our neighbourhood.

A block down the street, the house where my youngest son’s long-time soccer coach used to live has significant damage. I see several windows shattered … and more.

A large neighbouring tree was uprooted and landed on the house…

Further down the street, another house totally surrounded by trees was suddenly visible…

Block by block we see situations like this all over the city.

At our house, we had no trees come down. But we have no electric power - three days after the storm.

Fortunately our son’s family - who live half an hour away in the country - have power again.

Questions… Should we borrow their generator now that they no longer need it?

Should we go live with them?

So many decisions! In the meantime, we eat at a nearby MacDonald’s restaurant and go to bed at dusk. The main thing is that we are all fine.

So really - in the big picture - I have no cause to complain.
