Perth Maple Fest 2022

Terry loves attending festivals in small towns near us.

One of his favourites is the Perth Maple Festival, held the last Saturday in April.

Traditionally, maple syrup producers come to sell their syrup. But there are other vendors, too.

Terry, who is very particular about the syrup he buys, looks for producers who let him sample their various grades of syrup before buying.

This year’s festival marked a tentative return to “normal”… That’s not the reality yet - but life seems to be moving in that direction... Since we were outdoors, we didn’t wear masks. Another treat… Our Toronto son and his family - who recently moved to Ottawa - were there with us.

This festival brought back memories of six years ago… when he called from Toronto (as Terry and I were walking these same streets) to inform us that we were grandparents for the very first time.

We had no idea what that really meant… or how our lives might change in the months and years ahead…

This year also brought an extra treat: our now six-year-old granddaughter - the baby born while we were at the maple festival - this year was there with us!
