I am currently reading an interesting book on the history of diabetes treatment over the last 150 years. The book was published this year, in February.
I recommend it to anyone who is impacted by high blood sugar. For me, who has struggled for years with how to eat, exercise and live with high blood sugar (Type 2 diabetes or "metabolic syndrome") it's disconcerting to see how ideas about treatment have changed DURING MY LIFETIME!
Fortunately I was given good basic medical advice early on - by an endocrinologist who was on the verge of retirement. And I stubbornly refused to follow any later advice (by a new doctor) when I saw it was creating new problems.
I'm also thankful for the medical writer, Gary Taubes, who has been inspired to write this book and others that have impacted my health.
