Another place Terry and I visited last weekend was the maintenance facility for the commuter train that runs north and south in the city. (Ottawa had plans to create a larger train system - some of it an underground subway - but that won't be finished for a few years.)
In the meantime, four trains use existing tracks to carry commuters from the south end of the city downtown and back.
Two of the trains weren't in use on the weekend, so they were on display.
We were able to get into one and sit in the driver's seat! (There is no steering wheel - just a lever to push backward and forwards.)
Very interesting!
Another example of a place I would probably never have visited - except for the Doors Open weekend.
