I recently saw a dermatologist - to have a spot on my leg assessed.
"It's healing nicely," she said - then turned her attention to five sun spots on my face.
"Do you use sunscreen?"
(I confessed that I didn't.)
She said that my sunspots were normal for my age - but that they could become cancerous. She then sprayed them with liquid nitrogen (cryotherapy). There was a slight stinging sensation.
A few days later, they had developed scabs. Hopefully they'll heal soon...
"Remember to use sunscreen," she reminded me as she left the room.
I definitely will!
