Until now, I viewed botanical drawing as creating serious drawings of realistic-looking plants...
Then I discovered this book on fruit and vegetable "portraits"!
The artist, Billy Showell, has a cute sense of humor, in her pictures of games... using peas!
This inspired me to add a banana peel to my sketch of a ripe banana!
("Before" and "after" perspectives!) First in pencil, then in watercolor.
New subjects to draw are as near as the fridge or the fruit bowl! (And the details I notice - that I've never noticed before - once I look carefully at a piece of fruit or peeling and try to draw it! It's pretty astounding!)
