But the past few days have been a brief respite: milder temperatures have melted some of the snow.
I'm happy for clear roads to walk on. A few days ago they were covered with ice.
It always amazes me to see green grass appear.
And green leaves emerging from icy mounds that have covered them for weeks!
No point in being too optimistic, though. Spring hasn't arrived yet - it's just the beginning of February. But I'm happy for every reminder that winter won't last forever!
