The euphorbia are now paling in color, even as the irises are beginning to bloom.
Different sizes and colors - though the purple are first to appear.
In the midst of my unruly flower beds, occasional tiny trees appear, planted from seeds by squirrels who constantly dig and plant. The pink leaves of a tiny red maple tree are barely noticeable (below).
The question always arises: Do we want a tree in this spot? And if not, when should we dig it out? A red tree would add interest to our mostly green flower bed. But the bigger trees get - even saplings - the harder they are to dig out! And each tree creates shade, so some sun-loving plants won't do as well near a tree.
