A saying is successful if we have fun with it!
That's what's happening with the British World War II motto, "Keep calm and carry on," which has re-surged in popularity...
Why do we need to keep calm? Perhaps stress characterizes our life so much that it is a lifestyle - not a wartime - issue. In any event, it is touching a common nerve and advertisers are having fun with it...
"Keep calm and drink gin" (outside a London pub)...
"Keep calm and marry Harry"
And "Keep calm and eat up" (on a table place mat)!
"Keep calm and carry on cooking."
I wish I had taken a picture of every "Keep calm..." variation I have seen in the last little while. There have been dozens. The original creator of the motto (more than 70 years ago!) would probably be more than a little surprised to know that the motto is carrying on so popularly after all these years!
