A neighbor of ours spent her honeymoon chasing trains with her new husband - an avid train enthusiast. (They apparently did take a few train rides as well.)
Terry and I enjoy train rides - though we are not that obsessed!
So we were happy to see that there was a steam train we could take that drove through Amish farm country near Lancaster Pennsylvania.
We had the choice of sitting in a dining car, a regular coach, or an open air coach.
We chose the comfort of the (air-conditioned) regular coach car.
One of the most fascinating farms we passed had corn "as high as an elephant's eye"... or higher!
They had created a maze-shaped path in a field of corn for visitors to walk through.
Just thinking about walking through it made me feel claustrophobic!
We also passed the train yard where other old engines were stored. Are there plans in the works to get them running again too?
I don't know. But it was all very interesting - a nostalgic reminder of the old train yard in the town where I lived as a child.
