We spent last week-end in Kingston, Ontario - on the shores of Lake Ontario.
We attended a Blues Festival...
It's an outdoor event, held in several downtown locations.
The first night we went to the stage set up in the parking lot of a supermarket...
The next night, we attended a show at Market Square...
It was a fun community event!
Afterward we walked around downtown, and discovered a popular home-made ice cream store...
... It drew us back both evenings - we wanted to try more flavors!
On Sunday, we attended church at St. George's Cathedral...
It's a beautiful historic building in the heart of downtown...
(And the only church I ever visited where refreshments after the service - lemonade, raisin bread, cheese - also included a glass of sherry!)
The people who lingered and chatted were all very friendly... We felt right at home!
So we were sad to say goodbye...
It was a wonderful weekend.
For a change, we took the scenic route home...
...driving along the back roads that skirt the shores of Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River.
I've yet to visit Kingston. Your montage and description makes the city look like fun, especially during Blues Fest.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, we went to La Merceria (http://lamerceriatoronto.blogspot.com/) and Sadie's Diner just next door. They respectively make the best affogatos (vanilla ice cream drowned into espresso coffee) and banana-peanut butter-chocolate smoothies in the city.
This is the first time we have ever stayed in Kingston. Previously we have been there for the day - for a soccer game or a brief visit. Usually we just pass through on our way to Toronto. I'd like to go back again. It's really lovely.
