Years ago, I planted a number of small honeysuckle bushes all around our yard. Most surrounded the deck we had just built (which has since been torn down). Different varieties bloomed all summer long, adding color and scent to our garden. They also attracted bees and wasps. The down side was that, in the end, our children hated to eat outdoors on the deck, for fear of being stung!
The bushes were dug up when the foundation for the addition to the house was built. For years, I have assumed that we no longer have any honeysuckles in the yard.
Then recently I discovered this bush at the edge of our property. It has been growing all these years, hidden in a mass of trees and vines that was removed last summer.
I'm looking forward to seeing it bush out, now that it has more room to grow.
