The Evergreen Brick Works Park in Toronto is a fun, family-friendly place to visit.
Located in the valley of the Don River, the hills surrounding the brick works have walking paths for various levels of family fitness.
We managed to walk up the summit...
... which was deceptively hard for me. I needed to take a break...
... happily handing the stroller over to Natalie who forged on ahead!
(The energy of youth!)
When we reached the summit, the CN Tower in the distance reminded us that we were in the city...
Though around us, all we could see was... trees.
When Terry and I lived near the Don Valley in the late 1970s, the brick works was an abandoned industrial site that we passed, but never visited.
In recent years, it has been revitalized and now houses a farmers market as well as activities for children...
Not to mention a restaurant...
...cafe and gift-shop...
I was interested in the pottery that was for sale...
Also in the large kiln ovens that had once been used to bake bricks.
All this history and nature in the Don Valley...
... located in the middle of Canada's largest city, not far from busy downtown!
