The end of July marks "mid-summer" for me. It also marks the beginning of "back to school" sales - which used to (annoyingly!) remind me that summer was half over.
I don't mind our shortening summer days this year. Perhaps they will bring cooler weather. In July we had so many "heat warnings - and a few "tornado risks"! On the plus side, the sun shone every day except one - Monday, July 7.
We now have an hour less daylight here in Ottawa than we did a month ago, on July 1, when the sun rose at 5:18. It now rises half an hour later. Likewise evening comes half an hour earlier.
Maybe August will give us cooler days. If so, I won't mind. Maybe I'll go out walking again.
But I guess we'll have to wait and see!
