The roads are still bare (of snow) so Terry and I decided to drive to Montreal for two days.
We rarely take long trips once roads are snowy.
We left early, as sunlit hours are short.
All the pictures I took en route show the sun low in the sky and long shadows.
It's always exciting to be back downtown, in our old neighborhood. (Seeing this guy working high above the sidewalk reminded me of all the different jobs there are out there - especially ones I'm glad I don't have to do!)
I love the mix of old buildings and new!
The city has a different feel in December - trees are bare (so buildings are more visible).
Even though the temperature was around 0 degrees C (32 degrees F), we definitely needed to bundle up!
Although it's been over 30 years since we lived here, coming back always brings a comforting feeling of being "home." (This was Terry's second "home" for three years - McGill University.)
We took a walk early in the morning - when people were heading to work. Montreal's downtown streets weren't as busy. Here is St. Catherine Street, Montreal's main street, a quieter place before the shoppers arrive! We lived in a downtown apartment when we were first married - and downtown still feels like home!
