While visiting Quebec City recently, we found our way to Montmorency Falls, a short drive away.
This waterfall is, apparently, higher than Niagara Falls, though not as wide.
A cable-car takes visitors to a bridge look-out above the falls.
Terry and our friends decided to take the stairs instead. (They lead to a different look-out.)
I was content with the view from the bottom!
(The "big picture"!)
Waiting for them to come back down, I watched the cable car go up and down and wondered what the view was like at the hotel that overlooks the falls...
I also marveled that an elaborate stairway had been built on this mountain side...
... since it is made of unstable shale.
Climbing could create an avalanche!
(So it's not allowed.)
Yet the river under the falls has managed to survive being filled in by the rock. I noticed that birds (and people) still fish there.
