Poutine is one of the most popular "fast" foods in Quebec...
It consists of French fries topped with fresh cheese curds and gravy.
On a recent trip from Quebec City to Montreal, we discovered what may be the most popular poutine restaurant in Quebec. The parking lot was full of cars coming and going...
Inside long lines waited to buy fresh cheese...
... poutine or ice cream.
Located west of Drummondville, in a place called St. Germain...
...Lemaire Fromagerie [cheese factory] has been around since 1956.
Some seats in the restaurants are authentic tractor seats...
Others are modified milk cans.
There was even an old tractor in the restaurant!
How serious are they about their poutine? They even advertise a Poutine Festival August 26 to 27!
(I wonder if they provide the cheese...)
Here's a review posted by someone who attended last year's festival... Looks like fun!
