My father believed that laughter was the best medicine. He loved reading the humor pages in Readers Digest - and he actually remembered the jokes, to retell them!
I recently read (in the book, It's Not the End of the World) that prisoners of war who maintained their sense of humor had lower-than-average incidence of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) when they were finally released.
The book goes on to say: "A joke a day may not keep the doctor away, but you'll definitely feel better."
Author Joan Borysenko refers readers to a website that will email you a joke a day!
I thought of subscribing - but I'm not sure the humor I enjoy is found in jokes.
