This year, Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary today, July 1. It's been 150 years since the first four provinces joined together to create the "Dominion of Canada." Other provinces joined later.
Ontario was one of the first four...
Prince Edward Island, where our "fathers of confederation" first met to discuss the idea, was not.
Though city buses are free today, I probably won't go downtown to celebrate. Hundreds of thousands will be there.
Instead, I'll be thinking how wonderful it is that my grandparents came to this country when they were displaced from their farmland 80 years ago, during Stalin's land reforms.
Canada is a wonderful place to live!
