Our neighbors have been renovating their home since April 2013. The inside was finished in December. This year they started working on the yard...
When their hedges were removed, to give them a bigger yard, we decided to remove the small portion of the cedar hedge that was on our property, too, and get their contractor to extend the fence into our yard.
The hedge was here when we moved in more than thirty years ago! Strange to have it gone!
We also gained useable backyard space.
The new fence will be almost as high as the hedges were.
I'm looking forward to being able to walk around this corner flower bed again.
Years ago I dug out a pond for our three gold fish, building a rock garden behind it. Every year we would put them out for the summer. (Until the year a raccoon ate them all.) After that the pond was neglected and the hedge moved in closer. When small children moved into our neighborhood again. I didn't want to risk them falling into the pond so I filled the hole with soil and planted a flower bed again.
Over the years... so many changes...!
Now we have a fence!
