Vacations were always a bonding time for our family... Two adults + three kids in one vehicle for 3-4 weeks... We had to get along! Our trips usually took us west to Alberta and British Columbia or south, but never east. Consequently our children have never visited the Maritime Provinces.
Before they were born, Terry and I spent one vacation in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, but we have never been to Newfoundland or Prince Edward Island. Both are islands, so they take a little more effort to get to!
Not that many years ago a very long bridge was built to PEI. (It's the world's longest bridge over ice-covered water... Ice-covered in winter, not in summer, of course!) Crossing that would also be an experience...!
After reading Anne of Green Gables, I thought PEI would be an interesting place to visit. I wasn't so sure about Newfoundland - nicknamed The Rock - which I assumed would be... well, harsh and rocky. But after seeing these pictures of Newfoundland, I've decided that this is definitely a MUST-SEE Canadian province...!
