Whenever I see an Amish buggy - drawn by a single horse - like this one parked outside Walmart in nearby Ogdensburg, New York...
I think about my grandparents, who traveled in horse-drawn wagons in the Ukraine.
What was life like then, compared to life as we know it? Would I feel enriched (or impoverished) going back to a simpler style of life, slowing down...?
Am I more content rushing 100 kilometers (or 60 miles) an hour in my sleek car... than those who travel at a fraction of that speed ... and stop, not for gas, but to give the horse a drink of water from a bucket under the shade of a tree?!
