Terry and I often drive to Almonte for a few hours, whenever we crave a change of scene.
There are lots of reasons why...
We enjoy walking down its historic main street with its antique shops - and Bob's bakery...
Nearby old factories remind us of Almonte's past - a milling town, built on a river...
Even now for us - tourists - the river is still the drawing card. It's beautiful any time of the year. Watching the seasonal changes is interesting...
Were these seating areas at the edge of the water totally submerged in spring when the river ran high?
I don't remember!
But standing near the river, breathing in the fresh river air, is therapeutic any time of the year...
