One of the interesting events in Ottawa this summer was the arrival - on city streets - of two enormous puppets from France: a giant spider and a fire-breathing dragon, created by La Machine, a company that works with giant puppets on city streets.
I had never heard of "La Machine" before they arrived, but Sharon, a "Facebook friend" and former colleague, posted pictures of them on Facebook, alerting me to their presence in Ottawa.
For three days, they performed on city streets.
I want to see them, I told Terry. Off we went, hoping to see them in action.
They were scheduled to perform at the Canadian War Museum their final night in Ottawa. There was even a live orchestra set up to play in the background.
We weren't alone, thousands had the same idea.
Eventually, as dusk arrived, the giant puppets began to move...
The fire-breathing dragon passed close to us on his way to the battle field.
We didn't watch the entire outdoor show - which was free and open to the public.
But we did get close enough to be impressed with these giant puppets and the dozens of puppeteers involved in making them move and tell a story on city streets.
Beautiful!
