Squirrel Pottery?

My earliest pottery hand building attempts were squirrels and rabbits - animals I see daily in our yard. This one is supposed to be a rabbit!

I'm still having fun making quirky owls..,

But I'm wondering if I should also try to make a clay squirrel again...

So I'm taking pictures of squirrels in the yard.

There's  no lack of models to photograph - but they move quickly - and I often miss a "perfect" shot!

Discovery...

Recently, in the basement, I came across this embroidered prayer...

Did I make that?!! Or did my mother?!

I THINK I did - but... (and I can hear my daughter laughing) ... but I don't usually do such NEAT and TIDY stitches!

If I didn't make it, my mother maybe did... Her stitches were always meticulous!

Why didn't whoever made this embroider their initials on if as well?! (The date would also be interesting!)

But... I really think it was made by me...

Country Visit

It’s always fun to drive to the country…

Life is definitely peaceful there - and dark, once the sun goes down!

Our last visit included outdoor play with our grandson…

And a visit to a neighbouring property where another house is being built.

Life is about to get noisier very soon!

FRAMED Beauty

I take a lot of photos of nature.

And I'm puzzled...

Why do the same scenes look better when "FRAMED" - by a window frame...?

Perth Park

One of the loveliest places to walk in Perth, Ontario, is Stewart Park, next to historic downtown Perth.

(It may be called "Big Ben Park" now - after the prize-winning horse, Big Ben, who lived nearby.)

His statue graces one entry to the park.

Like Andrew Haydon Park in Ottawa, the park is beautiful from every angle.

One difference is that lovely, large homes are situated on the edge of the park.

One is even for rent for half the year.

The patk is a peaceful, beautiful spot to relax in - especially in autumn!

Hedge Trim

Every two years, Terry has the hedge in our backyard trimmed. He used to do it himself, but it’s a big job. Also somewhat dangerous, now that the hedge is so high.

We wait until the flowers near the hedge have finished blooming.

A few days ago, the hedge trimmers arrived. The weather was unseasonably warm.

The guy in the ladder was really amazing. Whenever he wanted to move a few inches, he just bounced the ladder to move it… a little like a pogo stick!

They did a great job! They make it look so easy!

Lots to Do!

Unexpected warm weather - after several weeks of cold - has Terry rushing around doing things he'd like to complete before winter sets in.

I really don't like to see him walking in the carport roof, clearing leaves - but theres no dissuading him.

Won't  the wind just blow them off? I ask.

Of course not!

So I help by supporting the ladder.

Then there are the eave's troughs to clean out.

Then a new indoor problem - the bathroom fan started clanging. Do we need to replace it?!

First an experiment: he removed the whole  mechanism and cleaned all the blades...

Eureka! Stronger suction again! It holds the paper up! When he turned it off, they fell to the floor.

I never expected it to happen: Forty years of home ownership has made him a handyman!
