I'm not known for paying attention... I get absorbed in a book or in thoughts, and don't always hear people talking to me...
But I recently noticed that when someone (perhaps my son) comes in and says DON'T LOOK! ... I invariably LOOK up and take notice!
So perhaps the most powerful word in the English language is... DON'T!
It doesn't always make me do the opposite... but it ALWAYS makes me PAY ATTENTION!
