Winter Walking by the Ottawa River

A few days before our most recent "lock-down" began in Ontario, Terry and I headed over to Gatineau, Quebec, on the far side of the Ottawa River, to go for a walk.

It was the day Quebec was slated to begin a nighttime curfew - at 8 pm to 5 am. Quebec has high COVID-19 numbers as well.

This stretch of river where we walked has become one of my favorite places to go - to breathe in the fresh river air and experience the joy being near water brings me.

We noticed ice fishermen in the distance...

And this tent nearby... I wonder if the person putting it up is planning on ice fishing too! (It looks a little too close to the water's edge for comfort!)

We didn't encounter many other walkers... The few saw we appeared to be retired, like us.
