More "Doors Open Ottawa" Visits

Last Sunday we visited two more "Doors Open" locations.

The first was a hydro electric plant close to downtown Ottawa on an island in the Ottawa River.

The place was popular with visitors - there were long line-ups for the tour into the depths of the plant. We decided to wait till next year... We'll make sure we get there early!

We did pause to look at an electric car on display.

Then we walked around, admiring the facility from the outside.

The second place we visited was Bethany Hope Centre, a drop-in center for young mothers (aged 13 to 25).

We were impressed by the sense of hominess and peace that pervaded this newly renovated building where moms (and children up to age 6) could come for parenting classes, visits to a nurse, counseling support, and more.

I wondered if I had any skills to offer for volunteering here! (But I didn't say anything!)

I don't know where volunteering would fit into my schedule!

But it would be a worthwhile place to help out.
