Road Construction Update... Early September

Evening often finds us wandering over to the construction site at the end of our street... after the crews have gone home... to see how things are progressing. Digging (and dynamiting) started in early spring. Now, it finally looks as if the sewer and road reconstruction at our intersection is nearing an end.

On one side, they have installed a curb!

On the other side, the curb is marked out!

It will be SO GOOD to be able to drive down the street - and not have to wonder what construction machinery, open pits or piles of crushed rock might be blocking our way.

(We have had to drive over sidewalks, neighbors' lawns and metal plates covering gaping holes...)

But two blocks north of us, the construction work has just begun...

Crews are preparing to work on the last four blocks of the project......

So we'll still be taking detours for a while yet.

But I probably shouldn't complain...

Look at this neighbor's front yard! I wonder how long before they'll have access to their driveway again!
