High Water

Last week, Terry and I drove along highway 7, a northern route through Peterborough to Toronto and Guelph.

All along the road we saw signs of rivers running high...

And signs of flooding.

A few days later, coming home, we took a different route - and noticed that the water levels in some towns, like Tweed, were much lower. Some rivers, in fact, had not flooded.

It's really a mystery how certain areas seem to get more rain and snow - and spring floods - whereas towns not that far away, with different rivers running through them, are exempt from flooding.
