Why are These Canada Geese in the College Parking Lot?!

I've lived in this neighborhood for many years. When my children were young, we would walk through the college parking lot on our way to the shopping area now called "College Square" - but then called "Shoppers' City West.

We often came across a flock of seagulls - which puzzled me... We have no "sea" - and the nearest river is miles away. But there they were... Where are their nests?!

Terry and I were again surprised recently to see, as we walked through the college parking lot - not only seagulls...

They were there, as usual, of course...

But a flock of Canada geese was walking around, probably taking a break from flying south for the winter.

They showed no fear as Terry walked past.

I've never noticed geese here before. They usually stop in corn fields or near the river - but we have no corn fields nearby either! Just pavement and a bit of grass...

Hopefully they won't stay!
