Winter Sunrise

I'm always happy to awaken before sunrise. These days the sun rises around 7:20 am - a far cry from 4 am sunrises in summer!  But I no longer set an alarm, so waking up before dawn is a matter of chance.

Sunrise is often the most beautiful part of a winter's day.

Recently, I was awake before dawn, sitting and reading... when I looked up to see a spectacular red sky...

How many people are enjoying this? I wondered...

A lot of folk are probably rushing around, getting ready for work, or even driving to work - as I used to do every morning between 7 and 7:30. I remember those days well!

I'm glad this season of life has given me time to "stand and stare"...
