A Few Signs of Spring

Spring began a month later than usual this year. An early indicator of warmer weather - the running of maple tree sap (used to make syrup) began a month later than usual. We haven't seen many Canada geese flying back to Canada, either. (What do they know that we don't?!)

I wonder: Does this mean that all perennials will bloom a month late as well?

Or will the growing season be compressed?... With more flowers blooming at the same time?

In spite of cooler weather, there have been a few signs of spring. The snow is gone. And the dome that covers the soccer field near our house all winter was deflated one windy day last week.

Once it's rolled up and put it away, the field is ready for soccer.

Mornings come earlier - evening light lingers a little longer, every small change is a welcome sign that summer is on its way!
