Heatwave - and Strong Winds

Throughout our two weeks in Britain, we experienced unusually hot weather.

There's a heatwave in Canada, too, I told someone. But our heatwaves generate thunder storms... Sometimes even tornadoes.

That doesn't happen in England, the person replied.

We left London on a clear day - flying seven hours towards Toronto. As we neared our destination, the pilot announced: The Toronto airport has been closed due to strong winds. We'll be landing in Buffalo until the storm passes.

So we sat on the tarmac in Buffalo for four hours, quietly watching movies on the plane.

When we finally landed in Toronto, limbs on the ground outside my daughter's apartment...

... showed us first hand what kind of storm it had been.

Now that we're home, our hot weather has continued...

A few weeks later, here in our Ottawa neighborhood, strong winds are bringing down trees again!
