Back in Chautauqua

Chautauqua, NY, is a lovely old village on Lake Chautauqua.

Every summer, the town hosts 9 weeks of cultural, political and religious events.

Many of the town's homes - and its one elegant hotel - house visitors during these 9 weeks.

There is an admission fee to attend - which offsets the cost of the numerous activities...

This has been going on since the 1920's...

This was Terry's and my second visit. We spent two days there several years ago, when Barbara Brown Taylor was the chaplain of the week.

This year, Terry thought it would be fun to return during "comedy week."

We invited our daughter to come along.

There weren't a lot of people her age there, but I think she had a good time...

It seems to draw an older crowd...

We ended up attending events for only one day - but what a packed and fun-filled day that was!

We even managed to book a meal at the lovely old hotel near the amphitheater...

Since Chautauqua is less than a four-hour drive from Guelph, we'll probably check out who is speaking and performing there next summer...

Maybe we'll go again...
