THANKFUL to Be Living in Canada This Canada Day!

I don't plan to head downtown for the Canada Day festivities today, joining the hundred thousand (or more) milling around Parliament Hill.

I've done that a few times, and I can picture the crowds in my mind!

Instead, I plan to sit at home, enjoying the peace and quiet, thankful that my family - fleeing the instability of Europe in the late 1920s - were blessed with being able to immigrate here.

The early years were tough - but thankfully they survived and prospered.

Now - more than 90 years after they endured the hardship of uprooting themselves and abandoning all their possessions - my children and I live in such a beautiful, peaceful land!
