Scraps for Squirrels and Birds

A quilter I know keeps small strips of fabric. In spring she leaves these bits outside so that birds can use them when they build their nests. Wouldn't it be fun to spot fabric you recognize in nearby nests?!

I haven't started doing that - but I have put wool yarn into our compost heap. After all, it's bio-degradable.

Squirrels regularly forage there for food, even in winter. Maybe come spring, I'll see purple scraps yarn in squirrel nests as well!
