Blue Lovers' Knot Quilt... Done!

I have been hand quilting this blue Lovers' Knot quilt for a number of weeks. Now that phase is finally done. Time to finally finish up!

The final task of adding borders and binding doesn't look like a lot of work. I always forget how laborious it really is, partly because the quilt is now so large to work with!

Surprisingly, it took me a whole day to attach the two border bands and sew the binding on the quilt. I was glad when it was finally done. But like delivering a baby, the joy of seeing it finally finished makes me forget the hours of labor it entailed!

  1. absolutely lovely Marlene 4 stars to you. No one out here hand quilts it is either done on their home machine or sent to someone with a longarm for quilting. You have made a treasure. Jean

    2. I'm also a hand quilter , that makes the nicest quilts. Machine quilting makes the quilt stiff and heavy!

  2. Thanks, Jean! I'm actually thinking of joining the 21st century and learning to machine quilt!

  3. Oh, but hand quilting makes it a heirloom! I taught a 7 year old to make an “Apple Bars” quilt top. She, her mother (29) her grandmother (51) her Great Grandmother (77) and her GREAT, Great Grandmother (101) all quilted it together. 5 generations! You can’t get that with machine quilting! Both are beautiful, but there’s still room for the old with the new! And your Lover’s Knot is lovely!

    1. I used Eleanor Burns' Quilt in a Day pattern. It may be available for sale online. I got mine on Ebay. But Amazon may have them too. This isn't the one I used - but it's on Amazon: https://www.amazon.ca/Lovers-Knot-Quilt-Eleanor-Burns/dp/1891776312
