Those tall yellow flowers grow well in our area. They are Golden Glow Rudbeckia...
They are sometimes called "outhouse plant" as they grow tall enough to successfully camouflage an outhouse!
And golden rod - over there - are a desired garden flower in England... But here it grows wild. Some gardeners consider it a weed! If our gardens were left unattended for a year, golden rod would be everywhere!
(It makes me wonder if golden rod originated in Britain - and was brought to Canada - or vice versa? Or perhaps we have different strains?)
