Chateau Montebello

We recently drove to Chateau Montebello, an hour's drive east of Ottawa.

I had heard about this five-star hotel, but had never seen it.

We wandered around the grounds...

We even checked out one of the bedrooms. (This may have been the one former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher slept in when she visited.)

We admired the view through the bedroom window...

I was surprised to see that the chateau is made of... logs!!

(How Canadian!)

The building was originally built to be a private club...

There are many seating areas indoors...

And outdoors...

Here is one of the dining rooms, set for lunch.

We admired the grounds... and the flowers...

Located in the small Quebec town of Montebello, it offers lovely views of the river...

There is a sports center...

And outdoor activities for its guests...

Cycling, boating, hiking and golfing in summer....

In winter, there is cross-country skiing, curling, snow-shoeing, and more.

It must be especially lovely when the leaves change color in autumn!

I imagine it's lovely (and peaceful) all year long.
